I understand what you mean. Persistent, random, mindless rambling isn't very useful and could be considered spam. But i think it is important we do keep a section like this open. I feel that it helps build a better community environment if the users can talk, make conversation and find out more about each other personally. Off topic discussion between members creates friendship and friendship results in trust. If all the members can trust each other and get along you have a brilliant community!

However, what your saying could be useful - the live action etc. Is there anyway you could implement a channel system? So the users can pick to go into the 'Auction', 'General Chat' and 'Domain Discussion'...

Just an idea, don't even know if its possible

Absolutely, two steps ahead of ya...

Right now you can select any channel for any area of the forum.

Also private channels for the mods and admin.

I am excited for the site to get a bit more active so that we can use these features.

Auctions! That's the only thing that comes to mind.

Having a chat room in a forum is always a tricky thing: you want it to be useful but you don't want people to start using the chatroom and ignoring the rest of the forum.

Not really Bingo, but maybe a trivia game,
first correct answer wins, and somehow just another
fun/BS kindof contest.
I got it, maybe domain history trivia!!!
Maybe break up all of the seriousness with a little live fun?
maybe a prize after the session of a free reg, or whatever.
Just a silly idea, but if it came to life, I would take part in it!
I'm curious to hear YOUR thoughts on that!

i see your ideas but there will be no way of telling if people are online without proposing a meating time or by checking the possibly outdated "Who's Online" section
