Buy as Many Domains as Possible

Postby mental on Sun Mar 30, 2008 8:31 pm

Domains are always great. But, they get better with time. There are only so many domains available at this time and less as time goes on. If you have an idea of a website that you might want to work on at a later time, go to godaddy, make a budget for yourself & start buying domains. Buy the domains that make sense. Something that you should remember is that even if you will not use the domain there WILL be someone else that wants to use it. The price only increases over time.

A prime example of this is this - I was on a forum and some guy was bragging about how he just registered an unregistered 3 letter domain on godaddy. when he showed us we were less then impressed. That was because he the domain had a letter in it. Now it is about 2 years later and that domain is worth a killing. People are now willing to pay a very high amount for those domains.

The moral of the story is if you register a domain that has some worth to it now, it will be worth a lot more at a later time. A nice term for this type of business is domain realistate. Stake your claim before the rest.

Your topic title is a little misleading - I clicked on it thinking you meant go wild and buy any available domain you find :P

But yes, it's true - if you see an available domain with a good keyword or 2, be sure to snatch it up as soon as you can, before someone else does.

Quality over quantity. Sometime buying a few names in the aftermarket will be a lot better than registering a whole bunch. For example renew fees will be killing you if you register every name you think has the slightest bit of potential. Also not ever name you register is going to end up being the gem you hoped it was.

I agree with Unclewalter. You need to think twice about which domains you ought to buy. So many expert domainers end up having to give their domains for free. Doesn't that prove that anyone can make simple mistakes? The difference is that the experts can afford to give away one or two domains. But what about the newbies like me? Giving out a domain for less than what I bought it for would be depressing in more ways than one. If that were to happen a few hundred times (if I were to register a thousand domains), imagine how much money I'd lose.

Be smart when you're registering a domain, just because you like it doesn't necessarily mean everyone else will too.

Yes its a good to buy some more domains now with good keyworded, domain registration per day far more than deletion, so this is a good industry to invest your money. Is there any value for domains with extension .net, .org, .info domains.
