The days of being able to buy high quality one word generic .com domains at reg fee are long gone. One thing I always talk about is that it's really not the domain in itself that makes a site big, its content and advertising. Im sure http://www.gamerenders.com doesn't sound too amazing to most people here, but it got sold for over $100,000 a few months back. And why? Because it was advertised out the butt and has good content. But being a millionaire doesn't mean you have to own 100 3L.coms, it might help, but owning 100 amazingly developed sites is worth just as much in my book.

I have been trying to run that path but I haven't found that niche yet. I mean most people think that your riches revolve around website building which may be the number one way to earn money online but there are way more ways to earn online and actually earn millions as well. Affiliate programs are one of them.

I don't buy domains hoping to get rich off of them, I buy them to give people somewhere to go. I never put ads on my site, unless I know the person and want to help them out, but I'm not in it for the money, if someone comes by and offers me a few grand for my site, I'll take it, but that's not what my purpose was

^ I'm almost totally the opposite, i will buy/develop a site with the sole purpose of advertising on it or selling it on in a year or so...

I just do whatever feels right at the time really. Hope for the best if it does not work out for me i move on to next thing.

I buy domains for fun, any profit is just a good extra.
