This is a warning to all newbie domain buyers, make sure to check your domains on sites to see if they are ban. Some good sites to check are
Digg.com
Google.com (Of course)
Yahoo.com
The reason why you should check is, if your site is ban from them, the odds are that the domain was used for spamming. I have seen people fall into this trap, paying out $100s and findout out that their dream domain is ban from like thousands of sites.
Thanks

Excellent post! This is a must guys. You will have zero success in selling and/or developing to sell to any high-end buyer if this is the case.

Surely they'll know if the ownership has changed after it's been dropped? I mean, if we find a name we really like and it's been banned, isn't there a way to convince Google, Yahoo, etc. that you were not the spammer who got the site banned?

If you were that focused on it, i guess you could, but the effort and time needed to get your domain unblocked could be better spent on doing something much more productive.
