Someone I know just renewed a domain name for 20 years, and was told the more years on a registration equals better search rankings. I guess it means your domain isn't just a flyby nite and it'll help. Let me know if it works for you.
Your friend shouldn't have registered the domain for that long. 10 years would have the same effect if that is indeed the case that SEO is helped by length of registeration. The big problem is with 20 years, who is to say that site will be around in 20 years?
I've heard of the SEO implications. I think registeration over one year is a very small factor considered, but haven't seen any substantive research that it is true.
I've never heard of this being a factor in better search ranking but it definitely sounds like something worth looking into. I'm sitting here wondering how a person might look into this. lol. We can all use help getting a better page rank. If paying for a domain for a few years at a time rather than just one at a time would help, I'd be all for it.
i am not sure if this makes a difference to search rankings at all, or if it does, I wonder how effective it is. Anything that can help get a higher ranking is worth the effort. I will have to look into that one for myself.
It does, in fact, because it is just a matter of programming the robot telling it to improve the ranking of sites that have registered their domain name for more years. In a case like this 20 years will finish ahead of the others.
