Sharing Some Tips (Helping Newbies)

Postby Mike on Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:08 pm

Hi all,

I thought it might be a nice idea if people who have been around domains for a bit took a minute or two or three to share one or more tips for our domain newbies.

My theory on this is to always sell a concept along with the domain. For example, purchase a domain with the development concept packed into it. If you have a domain called 10status.com that could be sold with a complete outline of a user rating community website along with development guidelines.

I guess the tip is nothing special only to build value in your specific domain.

What do you guys think? Feel free to chime in with your ideas and or thoughts.....

Yea, this is were I have messed up massively in the past:

PLAN PLAN PLAN!

Get ad idea, get it developed, and THEN get the domain, don't get a rough idea, then buy your domain - I've waisted $100 on this, but became smart :)

Thanks for the information.

I guess it's like people I've heard of who start working on a business with a specific name, but then later find out that there are other very similar names out there.
